Job Title: Warehouse Associate (Store Clerk)

Location: 115 Stewarts Ferry Pike, Nashville, Tennessee 37214

Estimated Duration: 05/25/2025 – 01/30/2026

Pay Rate: $22/hour

General Description:

· The Store Clerk is responsible for managing the daily operations of a storehouse, including receiving, storing, and distributing goods or materials. Working under general supervision, the Store Clerk performs clerical and logistical tasks related to inventory control, order processing, and stock management. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle both administrative duties and manual labor as needed.

· Works collaboratively with storehouse staff, supervisors, and other departments to ensure seamless storehouse operations, actively supporting the success of the broader organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Operates a small storehouse, often located in smaller departments, parks, laboratories, military sites, or health units such as family planning or maternal health programs.

· Manages a sub-inventory storehouse that serves as an extension of a main warehouse, handling items like clothing, furniture, or other essential property.

· Assists a Storekeeper in the receipt, disbursement, shipping, ordering, and inventory of a moderate-sized storehouse, supporting functions such as hospital maintenance or institutional operations.

· May assist with specialized inventory operations, such as managing specific inventory sections or helping Storekeepers responsible for large inventory storehouses.

· Receives incoming shipments from vendors, verifying items against purchase or shipping orders, and inspecting for accuracy and condition.

· Accurately records and reconciles shipments with related documents including purchase orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders.

· Unpacks, sorts, and stores items safely and accessibly in designated storage areas.

· Records all received items in inventory management systems, maintains logs, and follows procedures for stock rotation.

· Performs routine physical inventories to ensure stock accuracy and submits inventory reports for review.

· Monitors stock levels and prepares orders for replenishment to ensure continuous operation.

· Generates and maintains regular reports on storehouse activities, inventory discrepancies, and shipping/receiving logs.

· May oversee the work of lower-level staff in tasks such as receiving, inventory management, and shipping.

· In correctional facility settings, may direct and supervise inmates assisting with storehouse operations, ensuring safety and compliance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Skills:

· Basic understanding of storehouse/warehouse operations (receiving, stocking, inventory).

· Ability to perform clerical tasks: maintaining records, processing orders, using basic office equipment (calculators, copiers, telephones).

· Physical strength and endurance to move or lift heavy items, occasionally with the use of pallet jacks, forklifts, or other equipment.

· Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities for accurate inventory tracking.

· Ability to follow safety procedures for material handling and equipment operation.

Knowledge:

· Inventory control practices, including receiving, storage, rotation, and issuing stock.

· Procedures for maintaining accurate records and conducting stock counts.

· Documentation requirements for incoming and outgoing shipments.

· Safety protocols for handling and storing various goods, including hazardous or perishable materials.

· General office procedures, including filing, record keeping, and using office equipment.

· Customer service principles and effective internal/external request fulfillment.

· Familiarity with inventory software systems (e.g., E.D.I.S.O.N or similar).

· Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel for record maintenance and reporting.

Abilities:

· Ability to verify shipments against documentation accurately.

· Ability to prepare and interpret inventory and operations reports.

· Familiarity with warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).

· Ability to perform basic calculations (inventory counts, quantities, levels).

· Intermediate problem-solving ability.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate tact, patience, and adaptability.

· Ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals and teams.

· Ability to work flexible hours and respond to changing priorities or workload.

· Capacity to operate specialized job-related equipment.
