LANDSCAPE DESIGNER

Carlile-Macy is a multi-disciplinary design firm based in Santa Rosa, California. Our civil engineers, land surveyors, and landscape architects take pride in having designed many of the public and private projects that serve our Sonoma County community and those around us. We have a full-time opening and are seeking a self-motivated and well-organized mid-level landscape designer to join our landscape architecture team. The position will support our work on a variety of projects, including public parks and plazas, multi-family and senior housing, healthcare facilities, sports fields, commercial centers, and hospitality.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must be able to work independently and as part of a team under general supervision in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative environment on a wide variety of projects from preliminary planning stages through construction administration. Candidates must demonstrate quality and efficient computer-aided drafting and production ability, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and good organization and time management.

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree from an accredited landscape architecture program
  • 3 – 5+ years minimum relevant professional experience in a landscape architecture firm or similar
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office, current versions of AutoCAD and Civil3D, and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop)
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with Land F/X and SketchUp, a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in preparation and production of conceptual and technical plans, maps, graphic exhibits, and construction documents related to land planning and landscape architecture
  • Technical understanding of planting design; irrigation systems; site grading, drainage, and storm water management; and construction materials and methods
  • Basic knowledge of planning and entitlement processes
  • Ability to learn and follow established company standards and procedures
  • Ability to seek answers and guidance, take direction, and make compromises to achieve team and project goals
  • Familiarity, interest, and/or experience in sustainable and “green,” low-impact development strategies, a plus
