MetLife is seeking a Legal Administrative Associate for its in-house Legal Services Team, which consists of administrative associates and paralegals supporting the Legal Affairs department. The position involves working in various areas of the department to address business needs and requirements.

The role requires sound judgment, attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a complex and fast-paced environment. Candidates should be able to work independently with minimal supervision and possess effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. This position reports to the Services Team manager and involves collaboration with peers, stakeholders, and other members of the Legal Services Team within the Legal Affairs department.

The Opportunity

The Legal Administrative Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Legal Affairs department. By providing reliable support to attorneys and team members, this position ensures that day-to-day operations remain on track and communication remains clear and efficient. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative attitude are essential, allowing the team to focus on important legal work while delivering excellent service to the business.

  • Provides administrative support to attorneys and Services Team members as necessary.
  • Prioritizes meetings and manages calendar effectively based on business priorities.
  • Identifies and implements solutions to issues using an ownership approach.
  • Utilizes various systems, including matter management, ebilling, expense reports, and other technology platforms as required.
  • Communicates with executive assistants of senior leaders across all organizational levels, both internally and externally.
  • Independently manage performance and time management responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates skills in prioritization, organization, proofreading, and office administration.
  • Exhibits initiative and anticipates professional needs.
  • Provides back-up assistance during colleagues’ absence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive) and SharePoint; able to resolve fundamental software issues and learn new systems efficiently.
  • Arrange business travel, including airlines, hotels, and transportation, and submit expense reimbursement requests promptly.
  • Maintains documents and records according to administrative and record retention policies.
  • Assists with department projects as required, exercising judgment within the scope of responsibility and performing other assigned work-related duties.

What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)

Required:

  • Associate degree or 2-3 years of administrative experience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe), SharePoint
  • Excellent organization, time management, and multi-tasking skills required.
  • Ability to execute with urgency and agility.
  • Strong record of success collaborating with diverse personalities.
  • Positive, proactive, and able to adapt to changes in the work environment.
  • Candidate must be independent, self-motivated, with excellent organizational skills, and possess the ability to work under pressure, manage priorities, handle multiple tasks with frequent tight deadlines, and work well in team environments.

The expected salary range for this position is 53100-70900. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
