Job Description

Salary: $85,000 - 125,000 per year Requirements:

• An advanced degree (MA/MS, PhD) in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
• Relevant data science experience of at least 8 years in an applied role, preferably within retail, logistics, supply chain, or consumer packaged goods (CPG), with a focus on NLP and AI.
• Certifications such as Azure Data Science Associate, Azure AI, and Safe Agile.
• Proficient hands-on experience in programming languages and tools including Python, Databricks, Azure ML, Azure Cognitive Services, Ads Data Hub, BIQuery, SAS, R, SQL, PySpark, Numpy, Pandas, Scikit Learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, AutoTS, and Prophet.
• Familiarity with Azure Cloud technologies, including Azure DevOps, Azure Synapse, MLOps, and GitHub.
• Solid background in working with large datasets and developing ML/AI systems, including natural language processing, speech/text/image recognition, and various machine learning models.
• Experience in technical team leadership; familiarity with Scaled Agile framework is preferred.
• Proactive and action-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively and present to both internal and external partners.
• Experience in the retail industry or a production/service environment is a plus.

• Deliver on the overall data science strategy to enhance in-store and digital merchandising, marketing, customer loyalty, and operational performance.
• Collaborate with product development teams to define requirements that align with system and customer experience needs for data science projects.
• Partner with merchandising, supply chain, operations, and customer insights to understand customer journeys that will be improved through data science deliverables.
• Develop production-ready prototypes and iteratively produce end-to-end data science pipelines with custom algorithms and models tailored to user needs.
• Work alongside product development and technology teams to deploy pipelines into production MLOps environments while adhering to Safe Agile methodology.
• Architect, design, and lead the implementation of machine learning algorithms and models for data science capabilities across Digital Services, Merchandising, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Operations.
• Create and implement innovative design patterns in data science that establish industry standards for teams to follow.
• Encourage a culture of innovation by staying current with the latest trends and research in data science, AI, and retail.
• Mentor data science teams to foster curiosity, accountability, and enthusiasm while ensuring the implementation of best practices in code modernization.
• Provide strategic guidance on non-functional requirements related to security, reliability, performance, maintainability, scalability, and usability in data science.
• Identify and promote the adoption of new technologies and methods to streamline business processes and enhance value delivered to customers.
• Develop and present business cases for strategic cross-functional initiatives and ensure stakeholder alignment.
• Manage communication with internal and external data consumers to ensure understanding and proper training in data science products.
• Define and analyze key performance indicators to monitor the health, adoption, and value of data products.
• Collaborate with IT to scope architectural needs for data science systems, ensuring they align with strategic goals.
