About Us

ACZ Laboratories, Inc. is an environmental testing laboratory located in the beautiful mountain town of Steamboat Springs, CO. Founded in 1980, ACZ Laboratories is an accredited environmental testing laboratory with inorganic, organic, and radiochemical capabilities. We specialize in the analysis of trace-level contaminants in water, soil, sediment, sludge, waste, biota, and tissue.

We are looking for a highly motivated system administrator to join our IIT team. The IT System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, maintenance and documentation of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. You will ensure that systems hardware, operating systems, software and other infrastructure components and procedures meet security and organizational needs. You report to the IT Director.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure IT infrastructure and systems administration for optimal performance and security
  • Create and maintain front-end devices and software to ensure user efficiency and minimal downtime
  • Ensure seamless integration between IT systems and laboratory applications through proactive collaboration and support

Job Responsibilities

Ensure IT infrastructure and systems administration for optimal performance and security

  • Install/update/configure servers, domain, operating systems and applications, storage, peripherals, services, settings, directories, etc. as appropriate for proper maintenance and evolution of IT systems and in accordance with operational requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain infrastructure, including servers, firewalls, datacenter, databases, and other processes to ensure uptime and efficient operations.
  • Work to mitigate vulnerabilities by monitoring the systems daily and responding promptly to security concerns. Upgrade systems and processes as required to maintain a secure network.
  • Monitor, maintain and regularly test backup systems to ensure data redundancy and preservation consistent with ACZ’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Provide on-call support outside of business hours, along with the IT Manager.

Create and maintain front-end devices and software to ensure user efficiency and minimal downtime

  • Install/update/configure workstations, mobile devices, printers and other front-end systems and software as well as timely, effective support of users.
  • Work with laboratory staff and/or third-party vendors to promptly diagnose and resolve systems or application problems.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of all front-end hardware, software, licensing, etc.

Ensure seamless integration between IT systems and laboratory applications through proactive collaboration and support

  • Collaborate effectively with ACZ’s LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) software development/database staff, providing support as appropriate to ensure uninterrupted use of LIMS.
  • Research, test and implement appropriate system(s) for monitoring, managing and maintaining front-end systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or at least 2 years of related experience
  • Experience administering/troubleshooting Windows, Cisco, Active Directory, DCHP, DNS, O365, Oracle databases, Veeam, Hyper-V, LAN/WANs
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects in a prioritized fashion
  • Strong communicator who can maintain healthy professional relationships with internal workforce
