Chief Diversity Officer & Title IX Coordinator **POSITION DETAILS** The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY MED) is the only medical school in the City University of New York system. Our innovative curriculum allows students to complete both their undergraduate Bachelor of Science (BS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees in seven years. CUNY MED graduated its first MD class in 2020. In addition, the CUNY MED offers a two-year Physician Assistant (PA) program to prepare health professionals licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. Our mission is 1) to provide access to medical education to talented youth from historically underrepresented in backgrounds in medicine and to develop health professionals committed to practicing in under-served communities and 2) to perform innovative research in community health and biomedicine. The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY Med) is seeking a Chief Diversity Officer/Title IX Coordinator. This leadership position involves frequent high-level interaction and collaboration with leaders across the full range of the medical education ecosystem. The CDO serves as an executive-level strategist and partners with campus leaders, faculty, staff, and students to provide counsel and leadership on compliance matters involving Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), sexual harassment, recruitment and hiring, accommodation requests, affirmative action and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). The CDO oversees and conducts all investigations in compliance with the requirements of Title IX and EEO. The CDO conducts thorough and impartial investigations related to all discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims. The CDO is responsible for guiding efforts and creating opportunities to define, assess, and promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), educational and employment opportunities, and cultural proficiency. The CDO proactively develops and implements plans, programs, and activities that educate and motivate the school community to hold pluralism and inclusion as core values and foster a climate that respects diversity. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the successful candidate will be responsible, but not limited to, the following: + Provide leadership on compliance matters involving Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and sexual harassment and retaliation claims + Serves as the School's Title IX Coordinator and Section 504/ADA Coordinator + Oversees all internal investigations about Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; Section 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA); CUNY policy; and any other law that prohibits discrimination. + Counsels' administration, faculty, and staff regarding affirmative action, bullying, harassment, hiring practices, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) issues. + Serves as a Member of the Dean's Extended Cabinet and the School's Senior Leadership Committee. Oversees the employment/hiring search process and conducts compensation analyses for faculty and staff. Update school policies. + Prepares and submits internal and external reports including the federally mandated affirmative action plan. Trains the school community on diversity and sexual harassment policies. + Collaborates with Human Resources and Legal Affairs Offices to ensure compliance with the EEO and OFCCP as well as other applicable issues. + Oversees employment search processes including reviewing the composition of search committees, conducting charges, recommending ad placements, and approving the applicant pool. + Collaborates with the Office of Student Affairs to address student complaints and issues. + Serves as the Chief Diversity Office liaison to the CUNY and attends meetings of the CUNY Chief Diversity Officers Council as well as other school committees. + Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean of the campus or designee. **QUALIFICATIONS** This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Juris Doctor, or other doctoral degree in a related field, preferred. + Intrinsic understanding of the importance of DEI in medicine and healthcare disparities + Record of progressively responsible relevant experience in a position of leadership, preferably in higher education or government + A record of success in EEO/AA and diversity areas including demonstrable familiarity with regulatory requirements, laws, and guidelines + CUNY / CUNYFirst experience **CUNY TITLE** Assistant Administrator **COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS** $135,000 - $165,000 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
