Job Description

Bryn Mawr College has an opening for a temporary part-time Summer Lifeguard. 

POSITION OBJECTIVES:  

Serve as lifeguard for Bryn Mawr College Pool. During the summer of 2025, the pool serves a variety of community and outside groups including youth, educational and sports camps along with recreational swimming for the Bryn Mawr Community. This position is temporary through September 1, 2025 and is part-time for approximately 15-20 hours per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide constant surveillance and care for the pool and pool area.
• Identify potential accident hazards.
• Be alert and prevent accidents.
• Enforce all pool rules in a consistent manner.
• Handle discipline situations with courtesy and fairness.
• Respond quickly, intelligently, and in accordance with established emergency and accident management procedures.
• Administer first aid and CPR as required.

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Attend scheduled in-service trainings.
• Ensure cleanliness of facility (pool deck, pool area).
• Monitor chemical levels (training provided).
• Communicate with other lifeguards and Aquatic Director.
• Follow the substitution procedures.

Qualifications:

• Lifeguarding Certification by a recognized source of training (i.e. Red Cross) CPR certification by a recognized source of training (i.e. Red Cross, American Heart Association).
• Strong Customer Service Skills.
• Self-motivated, ability to work without supervision.
