Mission and Culture

The DNR mission is "To provide for the appropriate use and management of Alaska's state-owned land and water, aiming toward maximum use consistent with the public interest.”

The Survey Section provides surveying services to manage and maximize the use of more than 100 million acres of state-owned land. Boundary disputes, easement vacations, subdivisions, and the development of state land all require the professional services of the DNR Land Survey Section.

Examples include writing legal descriptions, performing area computations for lease agreements, identifying the location of easements, and assisting non-survey staff with understated survey requirements. Working knowledge of Geographic Information System databases and AutoCAD is a must for this position.

Benefits of Joining Our Team

The DNR Survey Section is a team of 20 staff, including 14 Professional Land Surveyors, dedicated to providing superior surveying services to the State and the people of Alaska.
