The Dental Board of California (Board) is looking for candidates to apply for the Supervising Investigator I position in the Enforcement Field Office in Orange.
Under the direction of the Supervising Investigator II (SI II), the Supervising Investigator I (SI I) is responsible for supervising staff and overseeing the administration of Enforcement functions in the Southern California Field Office of the Board.

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee's monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Conflict of Interest: This position is subject to Title 16, section 3830 of the California Code of Regulations, the Department of Consumer Affairs' Conflict of Interest Regulations. The incumbent is required to submit a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) within 30 days of assuming office, annually by April 1, and within 30 days of leaving office.
Criminal Offender Record Information: Title 11, section 703 (d) of the California Code of Regulations requires criminal record checks of all personnel who have access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI). Pursuant to this requirement, applicants for this position will be required to submit fingerprints to the Department of Justice and be cleared before hiring. In accordance to DCA's (CORI) procedures, clearance shall be maintained while employed in a CORI-designated position. Additionally, the position routinely works with sensitive and confidential issues and/or materials and is expected to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of documents and topics pertaining to individuals or to sensitive program materials at all times.
The position(s) require(s) a valid driver's license (DL). Provide a photocopy in PDF format of the front and back of your DL, clearly showing your name as stated on the license, issuing state, DL number, class, and expiration.
POST CERTIFICATION
The incumbent will be required to satisfactorily complete or provide proof of successful completion of a basic investigative training course as prescribed by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) prior to the completion of the probationary period. If the incumbent does not successfully complete the POST course during the probationary period, the incumbent will be rejected during the probationary period.
An investigator must perform the full range of peace officer duties and responsibilities in the accomplishment of their assignments. In addition, the investigator must qualify to carry a firearm, have a valid California Driver’s License and a good driving record, and be able to operate a motor vehicle safely. The position requires substantial field work (majority of the time) and it is typically more efficient for the employee to travel directly from home to the field work location.
Effective January 1, 2023, Senate Bill 960 amended Government Code section 1031(a) to read:
“Each class of public officers or employees declared by law to be peace officers shall meet all of the following minimum standards: (a) Be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law.”
This amendment removes the prior requirement that peace officers be U.S. citizens or permanent residents seeking citizenship. Non-U.S. citizens may now qualify for peace officer positions if they are legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law.
Applicable peace officer classification specifications will be updated to reflect this change upon approval of the State Personnel Board.
