Job Title: Substance Use Specialist
Job Summary:
CASES is seeking a Substance Use Specialist to join our team and provide critical support to our clients in the community. The ideal candidate will be a Master’s-level mental health clinician with a passion for helping others and a strong understanding of the ACT model. As a Substance Use Specialist, you will be responsible for outreaching to clients in the community and providing treatment and services that align with the ACT model. You will offer psychoeducation and support to clients struggling with substance use, helping them navigate their journey to recovery. This may include coordinating detox or rehab referrals, assessing clients' current substance use and stages of change, and advocating for them with service providers to ensure they receive the best possible care. Salary: The salary for this role is $65,000.
Shift Hours: Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Location Address : 2090 Adam Clayton Powell Jr Boulevard, 4th Floor, New York, NY 10027. Our office is easily accessible by public transportation.
Workplace Flexibility: Flexible - Staff have flexibility to complete their work day from home or another suitable space, typically after reporting to the office and/or engaging in field or community-based work.
What you will be doing:
Provide at least 80 percent of treatment contacts in the community and complete expected minimum monthly treatment contacts, including leading groups when clinically indicated;
Attend and participate in daily team meetings to discuss clients’ clinical and case management issues and needs;
Complete documentations required by the NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) and NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s (DOHMH) licensing guidelines, NYS Medicaid billing guidelines as well as per CASES ACT Policy and Procedures;
Identify the treatment services clients should receive based on severity of substance use diagnosis, stages of change, immediate needs and complete treatment plans using a person-centered approach;
Collaborate with client’s support network and other service providers on treatment planning, service coordination, and case management support with the goal of promoting client’s recovery and stability in the community;
Use motivational interviewing, recovery and trauma-informed approaches when delivering services;
Provide clinical services that are anti-racist, gender-responsive, culturally humble, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, client-centered, and evidence-based;
Complete required documentations and toxicology tests for clients with active Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) order;
Provide 24-hour crisis intervention on-call services on rotating basis;
Provide culturally competent services in accordance with CASES policies and practice.
