TIME COMMITMENT: Approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday (This position includes significant evening and weekend hours)
DATES OF EMPLOYMENT: May 27, 2025-August 15, 2025

COMPENSATION: $25/hour
Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Affairs, High School and Non-Degree Programs, the incumbent performs a variety of tasks to support the Pre-College Program students at the School of Professional Studies. The Student Services Coordinator serves as a leader and resource within the Internship in Building Community and provides substantial administrative and program support to Columbia University’s Pre-College Programs. The employee’s primary role is to oversee the daily operations of the Student Services Office which serves students, parents, and interns.
Responsibilities
-Substantially assist the Associate Director in administrative duties, including management of the Pre-College Student Services Office.
-Provide administrative support to all operational projects related to the Pre-College & Visiting Programs Student Affairs team.
-Reviewing and processing out-of-boundary/overnight requests for residential students
-Assisting students with accommodation needs and coordinating intern staffing when appropriate.
Ensure that interns are responsibly following the program’s financial policies and procedures.
-Review all program transactions and host financial conduct meetings when appropriate.
-Assist with check-in and check-out procedures for Pre-College students.
-Assist Coordinator, Student Affairs (HS&NDG) with scheduling writing center appointments for students.
-Support Associate Director in overseeing the work of Student Services interns to ensure the completion and high quality of their assigned work and responsibilities
-Provide thoughtful and quality evaluations and feedback on the performance of interns to program administration
-Act as a general resource to all employees of the Internship in Building Community and lead training workshops
-Attend all required training workshops as determined by the Associate Director of Student Affairs, High School, and Non-Degree Programs
-Act as a model of proper behavior and attitude for the students and interns of the program, a responsibility that extends to all instances in which the incumbent is acting in an official capacity or interacting with community members
-Engage seriously in the program and seek to make a contribution that furthers the goal of building community among the interns, staff, and Pre-College students
PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED OR REQUESTED
Minimum Qualifications
-High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma.
-1-2 years of experience in an administrative support role, preferably in a higher education setting.
Preferred Qualifications
-Prior experience in an administrative role in Columbia University’s Pre-College Programs or a pre-college program at another college/university.

-Proven ability to effectively work and lead within a collaborative team setting.
-Ability to effectively manage multiple technology platforms and online tools.
-Ability to work independently on multiple work streams.
-Ability to handle confidential information in a mature, professional manner.
-Strong written and oral communication skills.
-Must undergo a mandatory background check – employment contingent upon results.
-Must live on-campus in program provided housing for the duration of employment.
