Job Description

Academy 360 is a Health and Wellness Public Charter School in the Montbello neighborhood of Denver serving ECE-3 through 5 th grade students. We believe our relationship with our students is the most powerful tool we have.

We are currently seeking a full-time special education teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. They will:

  • Support individualized education programs (IEPs) for each student, setting learning goals, determining appropriate accommodations and adopting modifications as necessary; ensures each student’s activities and lessons are planned and organized according to his/her abilities;
  • Develop and teach lessons that provide engaging learning opportunities for small groups and individual students while meeting required specifications of IEPs;
  • Identify the students’ needs and develop related lesson and teaching plans;
  • Implement IEPs, provide ongoing or follow-up assessments, and continually tracks progress using progress monitoring systems at A360 and make modifications as necessary;
  • Perform a variety of assessments and observations to determine the areas in which the student may need accommodations or modified educational services. Assessment areas may include academic performance, academic behavior, or access to the functional performance in the educational environment;
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure each students needs are met and plans are followed;
  • Ensure programs comply with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA); ensures each applicable student is provided with Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) that is properly modified for their individual needs;
  • Develop, complete, and maintain all paperwork mandated by local, state, and federal guidelines, laws, and regulations;
  • Maintain knowledge of special education teaching methods, research, and best practices through professional development and study;
  • Provide a firm and loving presence, including building relationships with students and families;
  • Champion Restorative Practices and PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) as the foundational philosophy of the classroom management system
  • Engage positively in staff culture and have a solutions-orientated mindset;
  • Model healthy habits and incorporate healthy schools best practices.

·  Engage in passionate, rigorous instructional coaching cycles with scheduled observations, feedback, and supports from your Instructional Coach;

·  Be provided with one hour of prep time daily to support the preparation of your instructional lessons and student data;

·  Collaborate with a robust staff of mental health providers , including a bilingual social worker;

·  Achieve a high trajectory of educator growth through tailored professional development opportunities in alignment with classroom and schoolwide instructional goals;

·  Participate in a two-week Academy 360 Summer Institute; new staff members receive two additional days of onboarding to learn the “A360 Way”. 

·  Escape the city at an annual retreat up in the mountains;

·  Contribute to a strong culture within a small staff community committed to valuing the human capital brought by all staff members and where people genuinely enjoy working with one another;

· Be a change agent in a school that is a national model and touchstone for health and wellness infused education, developing whole children so they may realize their unique academic and personal potential;

·  Work in the “ beautiful mountain ” neighborhood of Montbello in Denver, geographically nestled between Central Park, Park Hill, Aurora, Commerce City, and Green Valley Ranch. Our facility is a known placemaker in Montbello, co-locating with various community partners all serving our families and their students.

The ideal candidate will have:

 

  • Colorado teaching license with a Special Educator endorsement or have a Master's degree in Special Education;
  • Proven effectiveness, or passion for leading students from low-income backgrounds to significant academic gains;
  • Proven ability to plan and implement standards-based curricula;
  • Proven ability to contribute to a high-performing team, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Knowledge of child development and best practices for teaching, along with experience in primary classrooms;
  • Demonstrated commitment to and thirst for continuously improving teaching through rigorous coaching and professional development and a data-focused mindset about their practice;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively informally and formally with individuals and families of diverse make-up, cultures, backgrounds, race, creed, and communities;
  • We especially welcome applicants (Spanish/English), and applicants from the Far Northeast Denver neighborhoods.

 

Salary range is aligned with DPS’ compensation schedule, specifically lanes 1 and 3, plus a comprehensive benefits package including a $400 monthly contribution to health insurance and fully covered dental and vision insurance. Academy 360 is a FAMLI+ employer, offering paid leave benefits.
