Lead E&I Designer

About the Position

The Lead Electrical and Instrumentation Designer will manage a team tasked with developing design documents and drawings required for the execution of the electrical and /or instrumentation projects.

Technical Knowledge

• Experience in the development of electrical drawings and documents that include one-line drawings, power plans, hazard classification maps, cable routing (cable tray/raceways), cable and conduit schedules, grounding, and lighting plans (including photometric studies)
• A strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and industry design standards
• Knowledge in the development of control system drawings such as control system architectures, IO card schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams
• Knowledge in the development of instrumentation drawings and documents such as IO lists, instrument lists, installation details, instrument locations drawings, wiring diagrams, and loop sheets
• Knowledge in developing complete electrical, instrumentation, and controls drawing packages as part of construction packages

Qualifications

• Electrical & Instrumentation experience managing designers (minimum fifteen years)
• Petrochemical refinery/chemical/ pipeline industry experience
• High School diploma
• Proficient at AutoCAD
• Ability to work in 3D software environments a plus
• Field construction coordination and commissioning/startup experience is a plus
• TWIC card required (or ability to obtain)

Non-Technical Skills

• Experience leading a project team, including interdisciplinary coordination
• Significant experience interfacing with clients
• Ability to work in heavy industrial environments
• Ability to optimize design
• Experience developing and understanding project scope, schedule and budget
• Attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to prioritize own and others’ tasks by frequency and importance
• Coach & mentor designers
