The Department of Mental Health (DMH), Southeastern Area, Taunton State Hospital is seeking a dynamic candidate to serve as a Security Team Specialist (STS I). The incumbent will perform security related duties to ensure the safety and security of the institution, and the population served. Monitor the safety of facility by patrolling building, grounds and adjacent areas. Incumbent will enforce Department of Mental Health Regulations and Policies.
Please Note : The selected candidate's work schedule will be 40 hours per week working the third shift (11 p.m. to 7 a.m.) with the days off Tuesday and Wednesday. The primary work location will be Taunton State Hospital, however, this position will support all sites in the Southeast Area as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have (A) at least one (1) year of full-time or equivalent part-time, experience in work involving the protection and/or security of buildings, equipment or individuals, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Applicants applying for positions within the Department of Youth Services, Department of Mental Health and Department of Public Health are required to obtain and maintain a valid certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and first aid. Additionally, applicants applying for positions within the Department of Youth Services are required to obtain and maintain a valid certification in crisis intervention and suicide prevention.
Substitutions:
I. An Associate’s degree or higher in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
Incumbents may be required to have a current and valid motor vehicle driver’s license at a class level specific to assignment.
Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
