Description Job Posting: Contract Property Accountant - Yardi Specialist Location: Onsite, San Mateo, CA Duration: Contract Position Company Overview: A growing residential property management company in San Mateo is seeking a skilled Property Accountant with expertise in Yardi software. This is a fully onsite position requiring availability Monday through Friday, offering an excellent opportunity to join a team committed to delivering top-tier accounting services for its residential portfolio. Position Summary: The Property Accountant will play a vital role in managing the accounting functions for multiple residential properties. This role will require detailed knowledge of property-related accounting practices, proficiency in Yardi software, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Key Responsibilities: + Perform daily accounting operations for residential properties, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), general ledger (GL) entries, and financial reporting. + Utilize Yardi software for property management accounting, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in processing transactions and generating reports. + Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties. + Maintain accurate records of tenant payments, including rent collections, deposits, and fees, ensuring proper reconciliation. + Assist with the preparation of operating budgets and forecasts for residential properties. + Monitor variances between budgets and actuals, providing recommendations for improvement where necessary. + Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies while keeping up to date with relevant regulations for residential property accounting. + Collaborate with property management teams to resolve tenant discrepancies and audit financial statements related to properties. + Provide insights and solutions to enhance the efficiency of accounting practices and reporting. Requirements Qualifications and Requirements: + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. + Minimum of 3+ years of accounting experience, specifically within residential property accounting. + Proficiency in Yardi software is required. + Solid understanding and experience with real estate accounting principles (preferably in residential properties). + Strong knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with property tax and compliance matters. + Excellent analytical skills, with a detail-oriented and problem-solving approach. + Strong communication skills to effectively interact with tenants, property managers, and internal stakeholders. + Ability to work onsite five days per week in San Mateo.
