Job Description

Apnimed is a well-funded, clinical-stage pharmaceutical company working to transform the treatment of sleep apnea based on a simple idea – patients with obstructive sleep apnea could benefit from treatment with a safe and effective oral medication dosed once daily at bedtime. Based in Cambridge, Mass., we are developing a portfolio of novel pharmacologic therapies for sleep apnea and related disorders.

We are seeking a highly motivated Project Manager to support the operations of one of our programs. This role will focus on clinical development, resource management, and ensuring smooth governance oversight with internal and/or external partners. The Project Manager will serve as a key contributor to the success of the program, ensuring efficient coordination across stakeholders, managing critical resources, and supporting the governance framework of the program. This individual will work collaboratively with internal and external teams to align on strategy, to track progress, and to ensure the timely delivery of program objectives. This is an exciting opportunity to help drive major paradigm shift in the treatment of sleep apnea from medical devices and surgery to first-in-class pharmaceutical treatments.

Key Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to drive the execution of Apnimed’s development activities for one or more projects.
  • Track timelines, milestones, and deliverables for clinical programs, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Facilitate communication between clinical operations, regulatory teams, CMC and external partners to address program needs and challenges.
  • Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies to ensure seamless execution of clinical and supporting development plans.
  • Monitor and manage the allocation of resources, including budgets, personnel, and materials, to support assigned projects.
  • Develop and maintain detailed resource plans to ensure timely and efficient support of the assigned program.
  • Support the governance framework of the program by preparing materials and managing logistics for governance meetings (e.g., steering committee, operational reviews).
  • Ensure all stakeholders are aligned on decisions, next steps, and deliverables following governance meetings.
  • Maintain and distribute documentation of key decisions, action items, and program updates.
  • Act as a liaison between Apnimed and any external partners and/or stakeholders as well as adherence to any respective governance structure.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive program trackers, dashboards, and reports to provide transparency across teams and stakeholders.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, chemistry, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree and/or PMP certification preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in R&D project management within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with significant experience in late-stage clinical development.
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams, experience working with collaborative partnerships is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams effectively.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet and MS Project, or other similar equivalents).
  • Familiarities with global projects are a plus.
