Job Description

AI is the new electricity. Millions of AI engineers are needed to transform industries with AI, particularly in the realm of GenAI, and we’re building an education platform to train them. With a mission to grow and connect the global AI community, DeepLearning.AI is an education technology company that is empowering the global workforce to build an AI-powered future through world-class education, hands‑on training, and a collaborative community. We’re a small tech company with serious credentials, exciting product challenges, and wonderful teammates.

We are looking for a talented Product Designer who’s excited to shape the future of how people learn AI – from first interaction to lasting impact. You’ll own the entire design process: discovering user needs, crafting thoughtful solutions, designing beautiful and intuitive interfaces, and prototyping innovative experiences. You’ll partner closely with product, engineering, content, and marketing to design end‑to‑end solutions that not only delight learners but also drive measurable outcomes for our business and mission.

This is a full‑time, hybrid role based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Own the full design lifecycle — from discovery and research to ideation, prototyping, visual design, delivery, and iteration.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and curriculum teams to translate user insights and strategic goals into impactful learning experiences.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to identify pain points and opportunities, and turn those insights into actionable design solutions.
  • Design elegant, responsive, and accessible user interfaces in Figma, ensuring every interaction contributes to a seamless learning journey.
  • Work with, add to, and maintain a scalable Design System — including components, documentation, and interaction patterns — to ensure consistency and speed across platforms.
  • Rapidly prototype new ideas using tools like Figma Make and v0, leveraging AI to accelerate exploration and validation.
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure design intent is implemented effectively — and, where possible, contribute to front‑end prototypes using AI‑assisted coding workflows.
  • Continuously measure and refine design decisions based on product data, user feedback, and key success metrics.

Here are the skills you should have:

  • A passion for designing products that empower learners and solve real user problems.
  • 4+ years of experience designing digital products end‑to‑end, with a portfolio showcasing shipped work across web and mobile platforms.
  • Strong skills in user research, usability testing, and turning insights into product decisions.
  • Proven experience designing high‑quality interfaces and managing design systems from the ground up.
  • Proficiency with Figma and prototyping tools, including AI‑powered solutions like Figma Make or v0. Experience and familiarity with coding is a huge plus!
  • Experience collaborating closely with engineers and PMs throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Curiosity about technical implementation and comfort discussing design decisions with technical depth.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to articulate design rationale to diverse stakeholders.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience building 0→1 products or working in early‑stage environments.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
  • Understanding of front‑end fundamentals (e.g., HTML, CSS, Tailwind) and the ability to prototype or code with AI tools.
  • Experience in EdTech, AI products, or designing for developer‑focused platforms.

By working with us you will:

  • Join a world‑class team of experts across marketing, operations, product, and more—working to change the world.
  • Collaborate globally with colleagues across cultures and geographies.
  • Bring high‑impact ideas to life with the freedom to be exceptionally creative.

Our Defining Values:

  • We care deeply about our learners: We let our learner's needs guide our actions and decisions and put our mission ahead of ourselves.
  • We are great at what we do: We strive for excellence in all dimensions, especially in the quality of the content we create and the people we hire.
  • We default to action: We are comfortable acting with limited information and taking ownership of our decisions.
  • We ask why: We ask the hard questions and are open to being in the wrong. We advocate for the best ideas, not our ideas.
  • We are honest and authentic: We are transparent as an organization, over‑communicate to build trust, and share our failures just as we do our successes.
  • We do this together: We help each other grow and succeed and have fun at work, even in a remote environment.

We Offer:

  • DeepLearning.AI offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan, a monthly education stipend, flexible PTO, and much more.

At DeepLearning.AI, we are committed to fostering a workplace of mutual respect and equal opportunity. We hire based on qualifications, merit, and business needs, without discrimination on any characteristic – whether protected by applicable laws or not. Our goal is to attract, recruit, develop, and retain the best talent from a diverse candidate pool.
