Tasting Room Associates are responsible for growing wine sales, wine club memberships, and public knowledge of James Cole Winery. The people who are most successful in this role are passionate about wine, love interacting with all types of people, enjoy working as part of a team, and are able to bring a sense of positivity and energy with them to work each day.
Currently, we are primarily in need of support on the weekends (Friday-Sunday). We expect to schedule this position for 8-16 hours per week initially, with the potential for additional hours in the future.
RESPONSIBILITIES - Host groups and provide memorable and positive tasting experiences.
- Educate our guests on our unique history and share our story.
- Sell our wines in a direct to consumer environment.
- Encourage guests to join our Wine Club.
- Sell over the phone, book reservations, and provide top-level customer service at all times.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS - 1-2+ years of wine industry experience preferred, but not required; experience in other hospitality or customer-facing roles can substitute for winery experience.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
- Must be driven, able to take initiative, and have the aptitude to solve problems.
- Have an outgoing personality and ability to maintain a positive outlook.
- Be a reliable, adaptable, and enthusiastic team member.
- Having a passion and/or interest in wine a must.
- Familiarity with Commerce7 POS system is a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS - A variety of schedules available with most hours being between 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM, weekend availability a must!
- Work at James Cole Winery in Napa, California.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs (case of wine) regularly and to remain standing on feet for long periods of time.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
COMPENSATION, BENEFITS & PERKS - We offer a competitive starting rate ($21-27 per hour) with additional opportunities for commissions, quarterly bonuses, and lucrative credit card tips.
- Hourly rates are determined during our interview process by assessing a candidate’s experience and skills against internal peers, other applicants, and against the scope and responsibilities of the position.
- Employees receive a wine allocation and discount on purchases.
