Department: Legal Location: [KOLKATA] Reports To: General Counsel / Head of Legal Job Overview: The Senior Legal Manager will be responsible for providing strategic legal counsel and guidance on all real estate-related matters, including property acquisitions, development, leasing, and dispositions. This role requires a deep understanding of real estate law, contract negotiations, regulatory compliance, and risk management. The Senior Legal Manager will oversee a team of legal professionals, collaborate with other departments, and ensure that all legal aspects of the company's operations are managed efficiently and in line with legal and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities:  Legal Strategy and Advice: Provide senior leadership with advice on legal issues related to real estate investments, development projects, property management, and transactions.  Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to real estate transactions, including purchase agreements, leases, development agreements, and joint venture agreements.  Due Diligence: Oversee legal due diligence processes for real estate acquisitions and sales, ensuring that all risks are identified and mitigated.  Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal real estate laws, zoning regulations, and environmental standards. Monitor and interpret new and evolving real estate laws.  Litigation Management: Manage and coordinate legal disputes, including working with external counsel on litigation matters related to real estate issues.  Risk Management: Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to minimize exposure for the company in real estate transactions and operations.  Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior legal staff, providing guidance and training in real estate law and best practices.  Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with the finance, development, and operations teams to ensure legal alignment on all projects and transactions.  Document Management: Maintain and organize legal documents related to real estate projects, including title documents, permits, and contracts.  External Legal Counsel Liaison: Manage relationships with external legal counsel and other professional service providers, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality legal support.  1. Conduct thorough reviews of legal documents and agreements to compliance and accuracy.  2. Draft comprehensive memorandums summarizing the key element considerations of the reviewed documents.  3. Manage the preparation and documentation for both residential and real estate transactions from initiation to completion, ensuring all s meticulously followed.   4. Qualifications:  Education: LLB degree from an accredited law school.  Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of experience in real estate law, with a focus on commercial real estate transactions, development, leasing, and property management.  Licensure: Must be a licensed attorney in [state/country].  Skills and Knowledge: o Strong knowledge of real estate laws and regulations, including land use, zoning, construction law, and environmental law. o Expertise in negotiating and drafting real estate contracts. o Experience with real estate transactions, acquisitions, and dispositions. o Knowledge of risk management and dispute resolution strategies. o Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. o Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.  Preferred Qualifications: o Experience with international real estate laws or cross-border transactions. o Prior experience in managing a legal team or department.
