Mothership is excited to search for skilled crew members that can function as a Full Stack Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building scalable web and mobile applications using modern frameworks and technologies. You will work across the stack, from designing user interfaces to managing backend services and ensuring seamless integration with cloud infrastructure.

This position will be a hybrid role that is mostly remote but candidates MUST BE commutable to either San Francisco or Silicon Valley. Only candidates located in this area please! Not open to relo or remote outside of the local area.

Position will begin as a part time contract and grow into something more for the right individual. So it can be supported in tandem with other obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain web and mobile applications using React , React Native , PHP , and Python .
• Build and maintain scalable backend APIs and services to support front-end functionality.
• Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment and improve development workflows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features and functionalities.
• Leverage AWS services to build, deploy, and manage cloud-based applications.
• Ensure application performance, scalability, and reliability by writing clean, maintainable, and testable code.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues across the stack.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and frameworks to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
• Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to ensure high-quality code standards.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation for projects and workflows.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 7+ years of professional experience as a full-stack developer.
• Must be very strong in React Native and React for building web and mobile interfaces. (Must be exceptionally strong with React Native non negotiable )
• Must possess strong experience with backend development using PHP and Python .
• Hands-on experience with AWS (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, API Gateway) for deploying and managing applications.
• Must possess a solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems such as Git, Github.
• Experience with database systems, both relational (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB).
• Knowledge of RESTful API design and integration.
• Seeking someone who has worked in large scale and complex environments (ie Meta, Amazon, Walmart, etc.)
• Ideally has some experience with AI/ML
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with Docker and containerization technologies.
• Experience with serverless architecture and frameworks.
• Understanding of testing frameworks and practices, such as Jest or Mocha.
• Exposure to Agile methodologies and tools like Jira or Trello.
