Job Description

Who are we:

Westborough Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (WBHH) provides psychiatric stabilization and dual diagnosis treatments for Children, Special Needs and Adult populations in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Our goal is to ensure patients and their loved ones feel comfortable and are well informed regarding treatment options.

We are conveniently located in Westborough near the intersection of Route 495 and Route 9. The hospital operates 24/7 with multiple shifts available.

The Director of Health Information is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities concerning analyzing, compiling, abstracting, transcribing, coding, indexing and filing of patient records. Support risk and quality with data gathering and analytics. Manages the team of 3. Obligated to meet the deadlines of court filings and compliance. HIPAA expert.

Shift details: Full-time 40 hours per week

Schedule:  Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

 

Essential Duties:

  • Establishes and oversees policies, procedures, standards and objectives for medical records services; monitors staff compliance.
  • Ensures records are consistent with policy for completeness, accuracy and standards of conformance and meeting standards of various accrediting and regulatory agencies.
  • Develops and prepares statistical reports and analyses based on records in order to analyze the facility's medical activities.
  • Provides recorded medical information to individuals with proper authorization; develops and implements procedures to respond to appropriate requests for information and subpoenas.
  • Manages all forms and documents: updates, tracks changes, archives, and produces as needed
  • Participates in hospital committees and reports relevant information to hospital staff.
  • Supports the organization's strategic business development efforts.
  • Carries out the personnel management activities associated with direct staff supervision, including screening, selection, orientation training and development, performance management, and employee relations functions.
  • Serves as department's fiscal manager.
  • Coordinates on site audits and surveys of medical records functions conducted by funding and accrediting bodies.
  • Serves as the company's HIPAA Privacy Officer and provides education, training to staff, and conducts investigations as required.

Requirements

Education and/or Licensure:

  • Associate degree required.
  • Must have either Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification.
  • Must be 21 years of age, have a current negative TB test or medical clearance.

Experience – Experience in a psychiatric setting required; familiarity with psychiatric terminology and treatment modalities; organizational skills; analytical evaluative, interpretive, and problem-solving skills; basic supervisory skills and fiscal management skills. Ability to maintain information as highly confidential; knowledge of and skills interpreting and applying laws, standards, and regulations affecting health information systems, specifically in mental health service areas.

Salary: $87110 - $135,699
