Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:As a Dietitian 2, you would be a member of an interdisciplinary team and provide Medical Nutrition Therapy which may include consulting with physicians on nutrition support requests; planning and supervising the preparation of special diets and menus; maintaining safe and sanitary conditions; and training or assisting individuals, families, and staff to plan specialized and therapeutic nutrition care plans. You may have oversight responsibility in the service of food; assist in the instruction of students or nutrition interns in Medical Nutrition Therapy and food preparation techniques, supervise dietetic interns and technicians; and/or supervise a small food preparation service unit.This clinician will address the increasingly complex dietary needs of the individuals and provide critical services to maintain the health and safety of the individuals with specific needs such as poor glycemic management of their diabetes, and other complex conditions that require more intensive, onsite, and individualized services. We have an increasing demand for dietitians to translate and identify the accuracy and consistency around the terminology of the diets of those discharged from hospital or rehabilitative care. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Monitor the nutritional status of individuals in their assigned area (i.e., tube feeding, pre-tube feedings, those prone to aspiration pneumonia, multiple chopped/puree consistency diets, as well as individuals with kealoric, electrolyte, nutrient and other metabolic needs, such as diabetes, hypertension, low body weight, renal and kidney disorders etc.).- Complete an Annual Nutritional Assessment & Nutritional Diagnosis via the nutritional care process (NCP) for each individual based on his/her nutritional care needs.- Perform semi-annual nutritional review for all IRA & Willowbrook individuals.- Perform monthly weight reviews, EHR chart reviews (labs, fluids, etc); documenting as needed and update diet orders, diet rosters and dining guidelines.- Develop staff training plans for employees on all three shifts in assigned areas based upon individuals' specific nutritional care needs.- Develop seasonal menus tailored to the individual's needs.- Conduct weekly meal observations. - Train staff on proper food safety and sanitation. - Provide nutrition care instructions to individuals and their families. - Conduct annual sanitation inspections of kitchens and food safety update.- Attend all necessary meetings and contribute relevant updates (life plan, reshab, nutrition dept meetings, etc)- Other duties as assigned appropriate to the title.- Travel required.Linked In: #LI-JL2

Minimum Qualifications Promotion:Current registration with the CDR as an RD or certification as a Dietitian-Nutritionist by the NYSED, and one year of service as a Dietitian 1.Open Competitive: Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or New York State Education Department (NYSED) certification in dietetics-nutrition and have completed a minimum of an additional 400 hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of an RD.Maintains current certification in New York State as a Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist.Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/c status in the posted title and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1, 70.4, or 52.6 of Civil Service Law. Additional Comments This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.- Please note that starting salary for this title reflects the Mid-Hudson adjustment. Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 18 ($66,951) and Mid-Hudson Adjustment ($2,000).
