Descriptive Summary
This position will require a driver responsible for transporting construction material and equipment from one place to another using heavy, tractor-trailer trucks and dump trucks. Operates trucks with a capacity of at least 26,001 pounds per gross vehicle weight. Operates and abides by all DOT/FMCSA regulations and safety regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Deliver materials or equipment while operating a straight truck/heavy trailer or Tandem.
• Load and unload cargo
• Record amount and type of cargo being delivered
• Fill up on fuel, maintain and clean truck
• Report to trucking manager/supervisor any incidents encountered on the road
• Monitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestion
• Follow all applicable traffic laws
• Perform pre and post trip logs, report any defects or damages
• Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs
• Keep a log or their activities
• Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate manager
• Keep truck and associated equipment, clean and in good working order
• Maintain log of trips
• Communicate kindly and professionally with customers/general public
• Actively participate in job site and safety meetings and all company related training
• Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
• Be open and willing to assist asphalt crew when needed
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
• Valid CLD Class A Driver License required
• Medical Examination Certificate required
• 2+ years of commercial driving experience required
• English is a must, Spanish a plus
• No serious tickets or accidents within the last 3 years
• No DWI/DUI in last 10 years
• Able to lift 25-30 pounds over head
• Construction industry experience
• Health Insurance upon eligibility
• Dental, Vison, Short Term Disability and Accident supplemental insurance available at company rates
• Company matched 401K plan upon eligibility
• OT after 40 hours worked
• Weekly pay
