Head of Data Governance
We are seeking an experienced Head of Data Governance to lead and evolve our data governance function supporting private market funds. This role is responsible for ensuring data integrity, driving modernization through AI and automation, and managing a high-performing team that oversees large-scale, mission-critical datasets spanning multiple decades.
This is a leadership role that blends people management, strategic data governance, advanced analytics, and hands-on collaboration with technology and investment stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage a team of approximately 10 data professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement
• Own and drive enterprise-wide data governance and data integrity initiatives
• Enhance and modernize data management processes, controls, and documentation across the organization
• Lead AI implementation and automation initiatives, including the use of AI software to improve data ingestion, normalization, and workflows
• Serve as a subject matter expert on data quality, validation, reconciliation, and statistical methodologies
• Provide statistical expertise and guidance to support analysis, reporting, and decision-making
• Oversee and optimize the management of large-scale historical datasets spanning 30+ years
• Partner closely with investment, operations, technology, and compliance teams to ensure data accuracy and consistency
• Ensure best practices for data governance, lineage, controls, and auditability within a private markets environment
Qualifications
• Extensive experience in data governance, data management, or data strategy roles
• Proven people management experience leading and developing teams
• Strong background working with large, complex datasets, including long-term historical data
• Direct experience working with financial or healthcare data.
• Hands-on experience leading AI, automation, or advanced data platform initiatives; experience with Canoe Intelligence strongly preferred
• Strong statistical and analytical expertise
• Ability to translate complex data challenges into practical, scalable solutions
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
