Authorization Specialist (Therapy Services) - Full-Time Position - Edwards Mill Office Location
The Authorization Specialist primarily obtains and maintains authorizations for PT services at assigned location(s). This position performs routine clerical duties associated with registration, insurance, and workers compensation knowledge; maintains positive relationships with patients, family members and other visitors and fellow employees on the phone and in person. Responsible for ensuring all PT appointments are properly pre certified with the insurance companies and documented in system. Communicates to facility and/or patient necessary information regarding authorizations and insurance issues.
Position requires formal training which will probably be indicated by typing speed of at least 35 wpm; six months' prior experience dealing with the public; ability to maintain composure when confronted with stressful situations; neat appearance and pleasant, outgoing personality; accuracy in obtaining patient information; excellent communication skills. Must be computer literate. Physical guidelines include ability to work at a computer terminal for up to eight hours a day. Prior authorization experience is a plus but not required.
Must be able to work in a cooperative manner and maintain effective working relationships with management/supervisors, co-workers, customers and vendors.
Compensation ranges from $17 to $21 an hour.
